We are looking for a highly motivated and versatile student to work on an interdisciplinary PhD project on flexible and adaptable RF/microwave devices and sensors. This studentship will run alongside an EPSRC funded research project in a relevant area. The goal of the project is to develop an innovative circuit technology that enables the adaptability of wearable devices in response to the movement of the wearer or environmental changes. This technology represents a step change from the conventional tunable or reconfigurable devices. The project will involve designing circuits and sensors, working with new materials, and developing their manufacture techniques. The PhD candidate is expected to develop the skills to lead the research project and interact with colleagues, partners and stakeholders with different technical backgrounds and from different disciplines.
The project will be supervised by an interdisciplinary team at Birmingham. The research will take place at the Emerging Device Technology (EDT) Research Lab, well equipped with microwave measurement equipment and a cleanroom.
