The gold OA option is provided primarily for authors with research funding from an organization that mandates gold OA as a condition of publication and does not permit green OA as a route to compliance. The fee is $2,500. Articles published as gold OA are made available under a CC BY-NC license. If a CC BY or other license is required by your funding body, please notify the editorial office at the time you submit your manuscript. Articles published under a CC BY license are subject to an additional fee.
Authors who acknowledge assistance by a funding agency will be expected to meet charges of $40 per journal page for each of the first 20 journal pages. Authors not supported by funding agencies and authors of invited articles are eligible for 20 free journal pages. All authors are charged $80 for each page above 20. For online-only appendix and table material, authors are eligible for 6 free double-spaced manuscript pages, but authors with funding will be charged $20 for every 3 manuscript pages more than 6. The fee for Open Access is $2,500.
