Authors are responsible for paying an Article Publication Charge (APC). Payment of the conventional APC will result in the article being published behind a subscription paywall under the Standard LPA. When the subscription embargo is over, the article will be made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) License. Authors have the option to instead pay an Open Access APC (OA-APC). Payment of the OA-APC will result in the article being published with immediate open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

APCs as of January 1, 2025. The member rate is only available for corresponding authors who are members at the time payment is due.
A corresponding author who is an ASCB member or who becomes an ASCB member at any time before page proofs are due at the typesetter will receive a 20% discount on the APC.
