Please note that adherence to word limits indicated in previous paragraphs does not guarantee exemption from page charges. Page charges are calculated based on the final character counts (with spaces) in the main manuscript and all associated tables. Figures and illustrations are counted at a fixed rate of 2000 characters per item. Online supplementary material are not charged. Manuscripts with up to 20,000 character count equivalent do not incur a charge. Each increment of 5000 character count equivalent above that limit will be charged at CHF 485.00 / USD 550.00 / EUR 540.00.
Illustration Charges
Figures and illustrations are counted at a fixed rate of 2000 characters per item. There is no additional charge for figures and illustrations appearing in grayscale or color in print or online.
