of Materials Research (RMR) is one of the two official journals of
Chinese Materials Research Society launched in 2025. This is a
broad-scope open-access journal published monthly. It provides an
international hybrid platform to simultaneously disseminate original
frontier research letters, brief or extended reviews, and authoritative
strategy commentaries about developing new materials and innovating
traditional materials.
This
journal publishes four categories of high-quality papers: (1) flash
reports of original cutting-edge research up to 6 printing pages every
paper, (2) concise reviews of current materials research limited to
10-20 printing pages for one article, (3) comprehensive surveys of
advanced materials progress with full length of 50-150 printing pages
each, and (4) strategic commentaries of strategic materials research
with predetermined length. Emphases are stressed on but not limited to
structural materials, functional materials, energy materials, electronic
materials, optical materials, magnetic materials, smart and
biomaterials, nanometer and low-dimensional materials.
RMR
follows the common tradition of materials research to concentrate on
the scientific interrelations of “material design — processing control —
microstructure modulation — performance optimization”. Consequently, it
will not consider those submissions such as pure theoretical analyses
or numerical computations without experimental validations, pure
physical or chemical explorations of various substances, design and
manufacture of structures and devices without academic significance, as
well as metallurgical procedure or materials production.
Peer review
This
journal follows a review process. Your submission will initially be
assessed by our editors to determine suitability for publication in this
journal. If your submission is deemed suitable, it will typically be
sent to a minimum of for an independent expert assessment of the
scientific quality. The decision as to whether your article is accepted
or rejected will be taken by our editors.

Our editors are not involved in making decisions about papers which:
they have written themselves.
have been written by family members or colleagues.
relate to products or services in which they have an interest.
Any
such submissions will be subject to the journal's usual procedures and
peer review will be handled independently of the editor involved and
their research group. Read more about editor duties.
Authors
may submit a formal appeal request to the editorial decision, provided
it meets all the requirements and follows the procedure outlined in Elsevier’s Appeal Policy. Only one appeal per submission will be considered and the appeal decision will be final.
