Authors Guide
【官网信息】
Each
of the sections below provides essential information for authors. We
recommend that you take the time to read them before submitting a
contribution to Acta Mechanica Sinica. We hope our guide to authors may
help you navigate to the appropriate section.
1. Key Ideas for Sections
(1) Rapid Communications
Rapid
Communications are for those creative original research works that
attract enough strong endorsements and deserve rapid publication. Rapid
Communications should be written in a short form within a maximum length
of 3500 words, with no more than 5 figures (a figure in size of 8.5 cm ×
9.5 cm should be considered as 170 words; a figure in size of 17.0 cm ×
9.5 cm should be considered as 350 words). Technical materials for a
submitted Rapid Communication can be provided for readers in form of
electronic supplementary materials. The work in a Rapid Communication
should contain new theoretical views on theories that can be validated
by experiment and are distinct from current knowledge.
(2) Regular Articles
Regular
Articles contain research with high quality and broad interest to the
whole mechanics community, but requires more pages to be written in
regular form within maximum length of 7000 words. There should be clear
creative results and essential conclusion in depth. Submissions are
limited to a total of 10 figures (a figure in size of 8.5 cm × 9.5 cm
should be considered as 170 words; a figure in size of 17.0 cm × 9.5 cm
should be considered as 350 words). Still, for a better illustration of
the research work for AMS readers, the author(s) is suggested to depict
the work in a concise way.
(3) Invited Reviews
Invited
Reviews provide scientific reviews of the highest quality in the
mechanics community, which comprehensively review important works in a
special field or area of mechanics and give an inspire and future
direction of the theme. There is no limitation for paper length of
Invited Review.
(4) Perspectives
Perspectives
are personal viewpoints of a narrow field of mechanics and focus at
discussing models and ideas to stimulate debate. Although a Perspective
is expected to be ~3 pages in length, there is no limitation for paper
length of Perspective.
(5) News and Views
News
and views will be written by invited experts to introduce papers with
significant works and contributions recommended by Editorial Board.
2. How to prepare a submission
Five
parts should be included in your submission, which are full paper (full
text, figures, tables and supplementary information), highlight, cover
letter, copyright transfer statement (CTS) and a name list of
recommended referees.
Highlights
should be submitted as a separate file. Please adhere to the
specifications as: (a) Include 3 to 5 highlights. (b) There should be a
maximum of 90 characters, including spaces, per highlight. (c) Only the
core results of the paper should be covered.
Copyright
transfer statement (CTS). Authors can download the CTS from the
Instruction and Form, and make sure all the authors sign the form. The
manuscript will not be published without the CTS.
Submissions
should be accompanied by a cover letter stating briefly to tell the
content of the submission. The cover letter should also specify if there
are pictures needed printed colorfully.
Also,
with your submission, 4 referees who are experts on the subject matter
should be included. Notice: experts recommended are not your close
colleagues, the ones working in your affiliation or your cooperator.
Please consider including younger individuals who, while possibly less
well known, are sufficiently knowledgeable to be effective referees.
Manuscript materials should be submitted via the journal’s online system
via https://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/cstamams.
3. Alternate Format of the Papers
In
view of the breadth of the topics covered, it is desirable that papers
published are written with clarity and conciseness so that they are
accessible to readers from different disciplines. To promote more
effective interdisciplinary exchanges, the Editors have decided to
encourage an alternate format of the paper besides that adopted
currently. Specifically, we encourage that the main text,
including all figures, tables and references, are within 6 printed
pages, with supporting materials offered as supplement. Manuscripts
using the new, alternate format will be reviewed in expedited manners.
4. Manuscript formatting guide (AMS Style Guide)
· General remarks
Notice that manuscripts submitted should be written in MS Word2003 template and LaTeX template.
· Title page
- A concise and informative title
- The name(s) of the author(s)
- The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s)
- The e- mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the communicating author
· Abstract
Each paper must be preceded by a succinct abstract summarizing the most important results and conclusions.
· References
-
The list of References should only include works that are cited in the
text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal
communications should only be mentioned in the text.
In the text, references should be cited by number in a square bracket
(e.g. [1], or [1- 4]) and listed in numerical order in the reference
list.
References such as ‘‘personal communications’’ or ‘‘unpublished data’’
can not be included in the reference list, but should be mentioned in
the text in parentheses; this also applies to papers presented at
meetings but not yet published or accepted for publication. A date
should be given for both ‘‘personal communications’’ and ‘‘unpublished
data’’.
- Authors more than 4 should be replaced by the et al.
Journal’s name should be abbreviated, you could find the abbreviated
name at http://www.cas.org/content/references/corejournals .
Example:
· Journal articles:
Dyall,
K.G.: Relative and nonrelative finite nucleus optimized double zeta
basis sets for the elements. Theor. Chem. Acc. 99, 366- 371 (1998)
· Books:
Larcher, W.: Physiological Plant Ecology, (3rd edn). Springer, Berlin Heidelberg New York (1995)
· Multi- author books:
·
Hovind, H.J.: Traumatic birth injuries. In: Raimondi AJ, Choux M, Di
Rocco C (eds) Head injuries in the newborn and infant. (Principles of
pediatric neurosurgery) Springer, Berlin Heidelberg New York, 87- 109
(1986)
· Illustrations and Tables
All
figures (photographs, graphs or diagrams) and tables should be cited in
the text, and each numbered consecutively throughout. Lowercase and
bold letters (a, b etc.) should be used to identify figure parts at top
left corner of the figure. If illustrations are supplied with uppercase
labeling, lowercase letters will still be used in the figure legends and
citations. Figure legends must be brief, self- sufficient explanations
of the illustrations. The legends should be placed at the end of the
text. Tables should have a title and a legend explaining any
abbreviation used in that table. Footnotes to tables should be indicated
by superscript lower- case letters (or asterisks for significance
values and other statistical data). We suggest author use black and
white figures in your text if it could explain. The colorful figures in
your final version will print colorfully. For color illustrations the
authors will be expected to make a contribution (1000yuan for figures in
4 pages, plus 500yuan more than 4 pages) towards the extra costs,
irrespective of the number of color figures.
· Electronic submission of final version
Please
send only the final version of the article, as accepted by the editors.
The electronic version should include the original source (including
all style files and figures) and a PostScript version of the compiled
submission. Formulae, symbols and all subscripts, superscripts, Greek
letters and other characters must be legible and carefully checked.
Standard mathematical notation should be used:
Single letters that denote mathematical constants, variables, and
unknown quantities should be set in italic type in text and in
equations.
Numerals, operators, and punctuation should be set in Roman type
(upright), as are commonly defined functions or abbreviations, e.g.,
cos, det, e or exp, lim, log, max, min, sin, tan, d (for derivative)
should also be upright.
- Vectors, tensors, and matrices should be set in an alternative typeface such as bold italic.
· Illustrations
The
preferred figure formats are EPS for vector graphics exported from a
drawing program and TIFF for halftone illustrations. EPS files must
always contain a preview in TIFF of the figure. The file name (one file
for each figure) should include the figure number. Figure legends should
be included in the text and not in the figure file.
•
Scan resolution: Scanned line drawings should be digitized with a
minimum resolution of 1200 dpi relative to the final figure sire. For
digital halftones, 300 dpi is usually sufficient.
• Color illustrations: Store color illustrations as RGB (8 bits per channel) in TIFF format.
Vector graphics: Fonts used in the vector graphics must be embedded.
Please do not draw with hairlines. The minimum line width is 0.2 mm
(i.e., 0.567 pt) relative to the final size.
After
uploading the file, the submission server will send you an
acknowledgement of receipt. If you have any problems or questions
concerning the submission of your file, please contact the editor.
Please always supply the following information with your data: journal
title, operating system, word processing program, drawing program, image
processing program, compression program.
file name should be memorable (e.g., editorial manuscript number), have
no more than 8 characters, and include no accents or special symbols.
Use only the extensions that the program assigns automatically.
· Electronic supplementary material
Electronic
supplementary material (ESM) for an article in the journal will be
published in SpringerLink provided the material is:
submitted
to the Editor(s) in electronic form together with the paper and is
subject to peer review accepted by the journals Editor(s). ESM may
consist of information that cannot be printed: animations, videoclips,
sound recordings information that is more convenient in electronic form:
sequences, spectral data, etc.
large original data that relate to the paper, e.g., additional tables, illustrations (color and black & white), etc.
acceptance by the journals Editor(s), ESM will be published as received
from the author in the online version only. Reference will be given in
the printed version.
· Proof reading
When
your paper is nearing publication, a page proofs will be sent to you.
It is for proof purposes only and may not be used by third parties. The
proof shows the paper as it will appear later in print except that: The
pages are not numbered but the lines are, to ease reference to any
passage to be corrected, or the proof has been optimized for online
presentation. Images will be printed in color. You can help us
facilitate rapid publication by returning the corrected proof of this
paper within several working days. So you have to first read about the
proof procedure to learn how to proceed and also to obtain information
about online publication.
You
have better ensure you fill out your response to the AUTHOR QUERIES
raised (if any) during the process of typesetting and return this form
along with your corrections. Without your response to these queries, we
may not be able to continue with the processing of your article for
Online Publication.
· Language
If
your native language is not English, please consider enlisting the
assistance of an English- speaking colleague for polishing the text.
You’d better use a spell checker. (Referees are not favorably impressed
by careless mistakes.)
5. Several publications, plagiarism
one article contributed for several publications, plagiarism, author
will take full responsibility of all consequences. Acta Mechanica Sinica
will refuse the author’s manuscript for 3- 5 years.
6 . Publication Fee
the paper is accepted, the author(s) will be charged a publication fee
for the article’s processing. Payment procedure will be notified to the
author through e-mail before its publication in print.
