在SCI的写作中也常要求表达需要精简，就需要我们删繁从简，尽管英文不像中文有白话文与文言文的切换，但英文也有它特别的一招，即通过改变词性，让句子更精简。

前期我们分享了动词或分词代替形容词，今天我们以动词为主角，分享动词代替同根名词或形容词实现语句精简。

动词代替同根名词

我们经常见到类似“the+名词+of”这样形式的组合，通常都是动词的同根名词表达形式，如:

Thedevelopment of→develop；

Theregulation of→regulate；

Theprotection of→protect against；

可以直观地感受到当动词用同根名词表示后，会直接增加句子的长度，何不把这节省的字符数用在更需要的地方？

并且，当使用动词代替同根名词后，整个句子也会让读者更易理解。

E.g. Accordingly, it is important to further dig outthe molecular mechanism in the progression of CRC for the development ofnew and efficient therapies for CRC.

更正：Accordingly, it is important to further dig out the molecularmechanism in the progression of CRC for developingnew and efficient therapies for CRC.

动词代替形容词

动词除了可以代替名词外，还可以通过代替形容词，实现表达精简，如

behelpful to → help；

bebeneficial to → benefit；

beharmful to →harm；

我们看下面这个例子，be protective属于形容词短语，其实直接用protect就行了，相应的，for我们要改成与protect搭配的against。

E.g. Anti-inflammatory drugs may be protective for theoccurrence of Alzheimer’s Disease.

更正：Anti-inflammatory drugs may protect against the occurrence of Alzheimer’s Disease.
