Newsletters on Stratigraphy offers optional open access publication to its authors. All papers are published under the Creative Commons CC-BY NC license, which allows free distribution, but prohibits commercial exploitation. Authors retain the copyright to their works.
OA Fee
The OA-fee (CC-BY-NC or CC-BY license) consists of a base fee (€140 per article) and a page fee (€ 149 per published page) and is charged for papers up to and including 16 pages. OA-fees for papers exceeding 16 pages in length are negotiated individually.
Color publicaton is free for Open Access papers.
Taxes and color publishing are included
OA-fees are invoiced and payable before a paper is published online.

The OA publishing fee includes taxes and color publishing fees.
Color Publishing Fee
Color publishing for non-OA-papers is charged at € 34.90 per published color page (plus taxes, where applicable).
Other Article Processing Fees
Language editing fee (where required by the editors): € 12.00 per manuscript page (plus taxes, where applicable)
