德州大学西南医学中心孙路研究组诚招博士后研究员
Postdoctoral Scholars in Neuron-Glia Interactions at UT Southwestern
The laboratory of Dr. Lu Sun at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) is seeking motivated postdoctoral fellows to join our team to unveil mysteries in neuron-glia interactions. Our laboratory focuses on glial cells in the nervous system and aims to address the fundamental principles governing neuron-glia interactions in heath and disease. Our expertise encompasses mouse genetics, with over a dozen novel knock-in mouse lines generated in-house over the past three years. Additionally, we specialize in primary glia and neuron co-culture, genome-wide CRISPR screens on glia cells, non-invasive brain physiology, and functional proteomics/lipidomics (https://www.utsouthwestern.edu/labs/sun-lu/).
Dr. Lu Sun is an endowed Southwestern Medical Foundation Scholar in Biomedical Research. Previously trained in the fields of neuroscience and glial biology, Dr. Sun’s published work focused on the neural circuits wiring (Science, 2013; Neuron, 2014; Neuron, 2015) and central nervous system myelination (Cell, 2018; Cell Reports, 2023). The Sun Lab currently has several exciting directions including genetic and molecular dissection of oligodendrogenesis, identification of the missing cues initiating axon ensheathment, as well as investigation of myelinating glia in neurodegenerative diseases. Our research has been recognized by the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (DP2 award), the Klingenstein-Simons Neuroscience Fellowship Award, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Early Career Acceleration Award.
Ideal candidates should have PhD or equivalent degrees in molecular biology, neuroscience, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field. Our laboratory is located in the Department of Molecular Biology, a renowned multidisciplinary department currently hosting 4 HHMI investigators and several US National Academy of Sciences members. The Sun Lab is dedicated to providing extraordinary career training for postdoctoral fellows; Candidates will be strongly encouraged to apply intramural and extramural fellowships, attend and present at international scientific meetings, and conduct supervised but independent research. Interested applicant should submit the CV, a brief description of previous work and research interest, and arrange for a list of three references to Lu Sun (Lu.Sun@UTSouthwestern.edu).
